Printer issue

Hello Community.

Since the virtual assistant is no help and I cant get an actual, paid, HP employee, I guess I'll try to use their community... Cant pay folk to properly answer your questions, just use the "community" for free...

Anyways, Here;s my problem:

When I go to print a document, the HP App on my laptop is giving me an error message that the printer is out of paper... There is plenty of paper in it... The screen on the actual printer does not say out of paper, it is in the ready status screen... as usual... but from the laptop to the printer, its saying its out of paper...

How do I fix this so I can print?

Thanks unpaid, free community, smh

@BarbaraFuentes, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you using the HP Smart app to print from your PC?

If yes, try reinstalling the app. First, uninstall the app, then go to Microsoft store to reinstall it.

Try printing.

If the issue persists, try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Perform the steps from this document - Out of Paper' Displays, Printer Does Not Pick Paper

If the above steps do not help, perform a clean reinstallation of Pre-installed HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  2.  Select your HP Printer
  3.  Select Uninstall
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  10.  Select Ok
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Try printing. (Do not use the HP Smart app. Open the document to print, go to File > Print)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
