This has been going on for a while now but with home schooling it's beginning or get annoying.

As you can see on the photo my printer keeps on doing this, it'll start printing a document and it will at random print a thick black line across the page and eject the paper and sometimes till just stop printing and eject. There is plenty of ink so that's not the issue.

I am printing via my mobile phone. I'm more annoyed because I use the instant ink service and I don't know if all these error prints come off my page allowence or not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Gemzy1991

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that prints fine. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Also, Print a Printer Status Report

Press and hold the Cancel button  for 3 seconds.

Printer Status Report prints. Check if the black line is printed on the copy and the test report.

Use the HP Smart app to print and scan from your phone

Click here to download and know more about the app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
