I encountered the same problem with my OfficeJet Pro 8020.  I tried Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox and received the same behavior on all three (attempt to change the address, get the "enter a valid email address error" and get kicked out of the site.  The provided email address has not change on the HP Smart site or on the printer itself.  Support pages reflect HP Connected and NOT HP Smart webpages.

Hi @man4allcs

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you

Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support. We appreciate your patience.

Let's disable webservices and re-enable it

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address
--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP
---> click on webservices and remove webservices and re-enable it

And then try.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Same result and frustration after trying with Chrome and with Mozilla Firefox.  I am assuming references to "HP connected" are equivalent to "HP Smart" as that is the site I am taken to when entering "HP Connected" in any browser.
