HP Laserjet Pro MFP281fdw
iOS

Before each print from my iPhone (we don't have PCs) I have to switch off and on (reboot) my HP laserjet printer.  WiFi diagnostics fine.  HP app states the print job is successful.  The printer wakes up but simply doesn't print but thinks it has printed.

i am not an IT expert (sorry) and don't understand IP HSdvps sub-mask net flannel 3.445 cross-net proxy language.  Everything works except the printer doesn't print.  I have software to update on the printer and I've tried to install the cannot as the "download" fails.  WiFi is working and the WiFi diagnostics is full of ticks.

ive set up HP ePrint, which seems to be a red herring - haven't figured out what ePrint does to be honest.

@Struggling198, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Update the printer firmware

Go to Setup > Tools > Update the printer

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on the iOS device

Go to Settings > general > update the software

  • Make sure the printer and the iOS device are connected to the same wireless network.
  • Either a 2.4GHz network or a 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Try printing with AirPrint, refer to this document to know how to print from your iOS device - Printing from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

HP ePrint is a secure cloud-based service that lets you print from anywhere with an active Internet connection. Email the document or photo you want to print directly to the printer.

For more info on ePrint, refer to this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
