Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

During the installation my HP6950 Printer/scanner can not be installed by using the automated software procedure. The printer is connected to my router. I am uring 2.4 GHz for the printer AND the laptop.

If some manual installation is perfromed (add printer by using PRINTERS AND SCANNERS in window-configuration), than only the print-functionallity is working. But the printer remains OFFLINE. I can not set it to ONLINE.

My printersettings can not by shown by http:\\1.1.2.12 (using webbrowser. It seems to be blocked. The NORTON (antivirussoftware)-suppport check this. They refer to HP.

Could someone help me?

Welcome to the HP support community.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  2. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  3. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  4. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  5. Try to print.

Assign a manual IP address and that should fix the issue.

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.
  2. From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup.
  3. Touch Tools.
  4. Swipe up, and then touch Network Configuration Report to print the page.

Setting a Static IP Address

Once you know your printer’s IP address, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:

HP Printer Static IP Address

  1. Run your Web browser.
  2. In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
  3. Click the Networking tab.
  4. Under Connections, click Wireless.
  5. Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
  6. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
  7. Click Apply.

I can print, but the scan-functionality does not work. That is the problem.

Thanks ! The problem is now solved.

I tried your procedure and it was still OFFLINE.

But when I started accessing the printer by htt:\\192.186.10.122 (example), I was that the access was refused. By clicking on the details, I saw that is was refused by the network. Clicking for some more details I saw that a firewall was working. Of course I stopped the Norton-antifirus. I descovered another (second) antivirussoftware. This was the cause of the conflict. After removing the second antivirussoftware the procedure results into an ONLINE-printer !

Now I can scan and print again !

The problem is solved. Thanks for your procedure. I was helpful.
