Hello, I have had the HP Officejet Pro for years. I am now having problems trying to print wirelessly. After completing an update, I received a print out telling me my printer now has an email address, I need to send files to this email address in order to print. I tried this. And I have to pay a fee to print anything from my own printer. Please help me understand this concept.

Hi @TraceyK9,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
HP ePrint is a feature available on many HP printers, including the HP Officejet Pro. This feature allows you to print documents by sending them as an email to your printer's unique email address. Here are some key considerations:
ePrint Setup and Usage:
- When you update your printer's firmware, it may activate or inform you about the HP ePrint feature.
- This provides your printer with an email address to which you can send documents for printing.
Costs and Fees:
- Normally, using HP ePrint does not require an additional fee for standard printing.
- However, ensure that you are not subscribed to any unnecessary services that might charge you for using basic features of your own printer.
Subscription Plans:
- If you encounter a need to pay fees, it could be related to additional services, such as HP's subscription plans like the HP Instant Ink program. This service automatically delivers replacement ink cartridges when your printer detects low ink levels and could involve a fee based on usage.
- It’s important to distinguish between subscription services and standard print features.
Direct Wireless Printing:
- Ensure that your wireless settings are correctly configured for direct network printing.
- You should be able to connect and print directly from your computer or mobile devices using your home Wi-Fi network, without needing to send emails or pay additional fees.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
