I am trying to set up an HP Tango X printer. I downloaded the HP Smart App on both my iPhone and iPad. However, it is not able to find the printer and connect it to my house Wifi. Anyone knows how to solve this issue?

I understand you have trouble, and to resolve the issue where your HP Tango X printer is not being detected by the HP Smart app on your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps carefully:

1. Ensure the Printer is in Wi-Fi Setup Mode

The printer must be in Wi-Fi setup mode (also called Wireless Setup Mode) for the HP Smart app to detect it.

  • To reset Wi-Fi setup mode:
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Power buttons on the back of the printer for 5 seconds until the Edge lighting pulses blue.
    • This resets the network settings and enables setup mode.


2. Enable Bluetooth and Location on iPhone/iPad

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth and make sure it's ON.
  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and ensure it's ON for the HP Smart app.

The HP Smart app uses Bluetooth and Location to detect nearby printers 


3. Connect to the Same Wi-Fi Network

  • Ensure your iPhone/iPad is connected to your home Wi-Fi (not a guest or public network).
  • The printer and device must be on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band (HP Tango X does not support 5GHz).


4. Use the HP Smart App to Add Printer

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Tap the "+" to add a new printer.
  • The app should detect the printer via Bluetooth and guide you through connecting it to Wi-Fi.


5. Restart Devices if Needed

  • Restart your printeriPhone/iPad, and Wi-Fi router to clear any temporary glitches.
