HP MFP M29w and HP6978
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Late last year I bought HP M29w laser printer, it worked fine until I did a firmware update. This year I bought a HP 6978. Whenever I go to print from a PC either printer is never available. I can't print from 5 different PC's, 2 phones, and 2 tablets. I have uninstalled all the software, and reinstalled multiple times, then they work for a day or two then get disconnected. The 6978 goes to sleep and never wakes up, the M29w says connected in HP Smart app but when I actually send some thing to print is says the printer is offline when it is not. What does work like a champ is my 12 year old C4780 where the ink cost like $100 retail and the print heads are starting to go.

I am in retail tech Sales, and sell both of these printers to customers, but I have never had problems with two printers like this. I worked in networking for years and managed a network across 2 continents so I have tried just about everything. The 6978 has the same problems, wired, wireless and on Ethernet. I am starting to think that HP can no longer make a good product.

As a last resort, I am thinking that both printers are on channel 5, and thus are in conflict with other. On the M29w it does not look like that can be changed, so if there is a way to do that on the 6978, please tell me here. I am glad I bought those protection plans on both of them so I can get my money back.
