HP Officejet 9015e Pro
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My old 8600 died yesterday morning (received an ink system failure message) after 7 years of faithful service, so I picked up a new 9015e.  Was very disappointed to learn that you cannot assign an email address to this printer and that Print Anywhere is not available on this model.

Hi,

Are you referring to HP ePrint (printing by emailing the printer) or Print Anywhere, which is used to print remotely from HP Smart?

Your printer does support HP Print Anywhere and can be used as following to print from a remote location using HP Smart:

https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/ish_1582257-1299980-16

If you refer to HP ePrint, indeed it is not supported

Spoiler
HP ePrint icon (except HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e and 9025e): Opens the Web Services Summary menu to check ePrint status details, change ePrint settings, or print a Web Services Information page.

Sorry, I was referring to ePrint and hadn’t scrolled all the way down to see the option - thank you, this is much easier!

  • If a Print Anywhere option is not listed, your printer is not supported.

This is what is noted in your link for Print Anywhere.  But, I have a new 9015e and "Print Anywhere" is not an option.  Web Services noted the below:

Web Services Status Enabled Internet connection Connected Printer connection to HP Smart Connected

But, I still do not see the little "cloud" icon within HP Smart on my mobile device.  The HP Smart app says that I only have remote printing to printers with that little icon.  But, its a 9015e.  Are there different models of 9015e that support this?

Please review the support document, HP Print Anywhere is controlled within the HP Smart app and not on the printer front panel or web interface:

https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/ish_1582257-1299980-16

Make sure the feature is enabled within the HP Smart app once connected to the same wireless network, the icon will only appear when the device is not connected to your home network.

Instructions in the link you sent are the below.  Please help me out with what to do next given the following responses:

  1. Make sure your computer or mobile device and the printer are connected to your wireless network.CHECK

  2. Open the HP Smart app. If you do not have HP Smart, download it from 123.hp.com or your app store.CHECK.  And the only printer (a 9015e) indicates "Ready to Print".

  3. From the home screen, click your printer to open the information screen. CHECK. And status indicates "Ready"

    • If Print Anywhere or Enable Print Anywhere is listed under Options or Settings. "Print Anywhere" is not listed.   [There is no option for "Options" or "Settings", There is "Advanced Settings" but that opens a browser to the printer settings where the "Web Services" "Summary" where everything shows enabled and connected] your printer is supported. Continue to the next step.

    • If a Print Anywhere option is not listed, your printer is not supported.[The question remains, does the HP 9015e support Print Anywhere?]

HP, the HPEprint feature was hard to beat.  I cannot imagine why this printer cannot support that feature which was reliable and easy to use.

Note:  When not connected to my wifi, HP Smart on my phone shows the printer as "Unavailable".

Thanks, any help is appreciated,

Ed
