iOS

I downloaded a how to guide on my iPhone that was 112 pages. I printed it from my iPhone and my printer would stop in the middle of printing after printing like 3 pages and sometimes leaving me with half printed pages. This is so frustrating because I’m wasting paper, ink, and time. The printer has one job, to print and it can’t even do that. I tried unplugging, waiting 60 seconds and plugging it back in. Each time it would reset but the same thing kept happening. The printer job stopped at least 20 times during the print session and I would have to go back in the app and print the pages that didn’t print, just for it to stop printing like it was done after 3 pages. It did this whether I printed front and back or single sided. Do I need to return this printer or is there a fix for this?

@Kmgottwald, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

To assist you better,

Are you using the HP Smart app to print from your iOS device or the AirPrint option?

We will have to check the connectivity between the devices. If the connection is intermittent and fluctuates, it may cause this issue.

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the iOS device

  • Make sure the printer and the Mac are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.
  • Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

Use AirPrint option to print:

  1. Open the item you want to print, and then tap the Share icon ( or ).

  2. Tap Print or the Print icon .

  3. Select your printer, and then change print settings such as paper size, number of copies, or page range. Available settings depend on the app you are printing from, the print job type, and your printer.

  4. Tap Print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
