HP ENVY Photo 7155

I set up ePrint on my printer and I was provided my printer's email address. However, when I tried sending documents to my printer via email, nothing happened. Apparently, the documents were sent to a printer IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY. LUCKILY, it was a kind gentleman who called me and let me know that my documents had printed to his printer.

These documents were sensitive in nature and contained personal information. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE and presents a huge liability for myself AND FOR HP. The documents could have been used maliciously - stolen ID, leaked confidential information, etc. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE.

I am still not sure how the gentleman who called me knew my number - the documents that I sent through email did not contain my phone number. However, documents that I scanned did. Were documents that I scanned also being sent to other printers around the world? How can I do damage control and make sure my personal information is protected? How am I supposed to get the answers to these questions? WARNING TO ALL HP USERS: If you try to use ePrint and nothing happens, stop immediately because your document could be printing on someone else's printer.

Going forward, how do I make sure that the printer email address is correct? Even if I change the printer email address through HP Smart, will my documents still print to somebody else's printer?

@PrinterQ2

There are two things are not right here

  1. Your printer and other printer have SAME email address. I don't believe that is the case because all email address must be unique it doesn't matter hotmail, outlook, yahoo, gmail ..... or company email.  HP may have an answer for this hiccup.
  2. Why the owner of other printer allows you to send to his/her printer to print. He/she did not setup his/her printer the right way. Unfortunately I can't say anything more about this.

Just a query:  Can you run a test to see you can send to your printer email address now ?

Regards.

Hi,

Indeed, 2 different printers can't have the same HP ePrint address, each printer is provided with a unique address.

When you use ePrint, be sure to use the correct information, this is not different than Email or Phone, if you will misspell the address or phone you will reach another recipient...

Could you share a screenshot of the email sent recipient (just the recipient address) and the ePrint address on the printer screen via a Private Message? I doubt those will be identical, it doesn't need more than a single character difference.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked multiple times character by character and the email sent recipient is identical with the ePrint address on the printer screen. Transcription error does not seem to be the cause of this issue.
