The printer keep pausing and is offline. When I try to  print and press resume printing only a blank sheet comes out.  It says it low on ink, but usually it will tell me whether to replace the tri-color or the black.  There is now indications which one.

To assist you better, What model printer are you using?

Is it an Officejet 6500 or Officejet 4650? 

 

Tap on the ink level icon on the printer screen to check the estimated ink levels and replace any low/empty ink cartridges.

Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

 

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the MAC

To check the connectivity between the MAC and the printer, perform a PING test

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.
