I have inserted a new colour printer ink on my HP Deskjet 2620 but despite it being the correct ink, the printer will not recognise it and shows as empty. I tried another new one but still same problem. Have tried reinserting and switching on and off but still flashes as empty and I can't print!!

Are you using HP ink cartridges?

Make sure the protective plastic tape is removed from the ink cartridge before inserting it into the printer.

 

Make sure you are using compatible ink cartridges

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

I have just realised that this is a compatible ink that I bought at Wilko so this is the reason it isn't working. Any solutions to get this to work please?

HP recommends using genuine HP inks.
