printing on 4 x 6 photo paper printer doesn't acknowledge paper is installed

I try to print photos on 4  x6 photo paper choose the selection on printer type and size of paper but I get message to install paper I have tried with an inch of paper a bit less or more still get same message

• What model HP printer are you using? HP office jet pro 6960
• Which device do you use to print? the HP printer
• Which application are you using to print? print from my Iphone
• I can print a 4X6 photo on 8.5 x11 photo paper but when i try to install 4x6 printer paper printer does acknowledge paper is installed. i change settings on printer for paper type and size.

Update the printer firmware
