HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My audio is having a 2-second delay whenever I play a video or put pause then play again. I have tried reinstalling the driver and going into the registry and changing the values but the issue persists. Help is much appreciated. My drivers are up to date and I have the latest Windows update as well.

So I solved the issue. What happened is that in the registry editor there are two Power Settings and I got confused between them and changed the wrong one. So I went back and changed it and no more problem. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?
  • Have you tried with the earphone or headset?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

I have changed basic settings that are found in the settings menu so it should not have affected the audio. I bought this computer new a few months ago and it always had this problem. The problem persists with or without headphones.

Perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I have already tried checking for updates and also I have installed HP Support Assistant a while back and constantly update my drivers and BIOS so that is not the issue. Thank you for your continued help.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. The last thing I can suggest trying to restore a computer back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

As much as I appreciate the help, I won't factory reset my laptop over such a minor issue. Thank you for the help though.

I understand that you're not wanting to perform factory default. However, If you still need additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team if you would like to continue troubleshooting.

I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
