HP ENVY 17-bw06
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

If to pause any kind of playback (video files, audio files, from the computer, from the internet) for 4-5 seconds, listening to it in headphones, after resuming the playback no sound is heard for 3-4 seconds while file is played. Different kinds of wired headphones were tested. If to use speakers of the computer itself, no pause in audio track has place. If to pause file playback less than 4-5 second, no pause has place even in headphones.

The laptop is brand new. All the drivers are the latest. Operation system (Windows 10) is updated to the latest available version.

Hi! @Ronax, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand when you play audio there is an audio delay of 4 to 5 seconds on your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Have you tried checking with a different audio player?

Were there any windows update on your PC recently?

Splendid analysis and remarkable patience shown. It is immensely appreciated.

Try the steps recommended below.

Try updating the BIOS and audio drivers on your PC and check if it helps.

Update the BIOS using this link. Click Here

Also, Update the audio drivers using this link. Click Here

If you still have issues, try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.

Go to Windows Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers section.
In the list of audio device drivers, look for Realtek or IDT High-Definition Audio. This is the device driver for BeatsAudio (a little bit sneaky, wouldn’t you say?).
Right-click and select Disable. The downward arrow displays on this driver, indicating it is disabled. (NOTE: At this point, you won’t be able to play any music files.)
Right-click and select Update Driver Software.
Select Browse my computer for driver software.
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
You should see a window that says Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. NOTE: If you see a window that says something like This is the best driver for this device, exit the window and repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.
In the Model box, highlight High Definition Audio Device (this is the substitute audio device driver) and click Next.
At the Update Driver Warning window, click Yes. You should see a confirmation window with High Definition Audio Device displayed. Click Close.
In the list of audio device drivers in the Sound, video and game controllers section, you’ll notice that the High Definition Audio Device now displays instead of Realtek or IDT High-Definition Audio.
At the prompt to reboot, click Yes.

If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below.

background intelligent transfer service (BITS) transfers files (downloads or uploads) between a client and server and provides progress information related to the transfers. If the BITS service is turned off, windows update may have problems delivering files to your computer.

If the issue still persists try running a system diagnostics test from your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

Refer this article to know more information about running system diagnostics on your PC.

Let me know if this works!

Have a great day! 🙂

Why there is no "thumb down" and/or "dislike" button to "appreciate" this kind of crap, this "copypaste help" of HP employees? They even do not read the question thoroughly.

@Ronax, thanks for writing back to us.

Did you try steps recommended previously?

I understand you have updated the drivers, but the drivers that I have recommended previously are from HP and the Microsoft generic drivers.

If you have tried all the steps recommended, it looks to be an issue with the browser.

As this issue occurs only when you play audio from a browser. Have you tried checking with a different browser?

Try restoring the browser settings to default and check if it helps.

Also, let me know if the issue occurs if you play an audio file saved on your PC.

I'll watch your reply!

Take Care! 🙂

Unfortunately hp support staff have been doing this for a while. They will keep on telling you to do generic things that do not work, even when they know what the problem is, because they do no what to acknowledge the underlying issue.

Anyways there is a Temporary fix.

The actual problem has to do with DPC latancy.
