Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

I have recently encountered an issue with the volume control on my HP pavilion laptop. I am unable to adjust the audio volume using the slide bar behind the speaker icon. Moving from 1 to 99 has no effect although moving to zero does mute the sound. I have tried uninstalling the Realtek Speaker - it automatically reinstalls and the problem remains the same.

 

If I plug my earphones in then I can control the volume through those.
