Elitebook 1040 G3
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I've recently reinstalled Windows 7 on a 1040 G3 laptop; but having issues with the audio driver.

Driver isn't installed and I've tried installing from Softpaq, Support Assistant and also the HP website but can't get the Conexant driver to work.

Also device manager shows an unknown Multimedia Audio Controller. But the Conexant drivers doesn't resolve this unknown driver.

Lastly the laptop has Bang & Olufsen Audio, but the only option showing on the HP website is the Conexant audio driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Also forgot to mention; there is no other sound device showing up, and that particular device (VEN_8086...) shows under Other devices as "Multimedia Audio Controller"

Hi Paul,

I'll have to take a look at this tomorrow, don't have the laptop with me anymore at the moment.

Also here's how the device manger looks like:

Thanks.

Hi:

Looking at the forum discussion I posted, you can see that the 430 G3's audio controller has the same ID, so most likely changing that BIOS setting to disable the Intel Smart Sound will work for your model too.

Thanks Paul; disabling Intel Smart Sound did the trick.

Thanks for your help too REO.
