Thanks Paul, I really appreciate it.

Hi:

I was finally able to find a driver that has support for the ID you posted.

The problem is the driver indicates that it is for Windows XP 64 bit, and I don't see 64 bit installation files.

Give this one a try and see what happens...

If you look at the setup information file the ID for your audio device is the last one on the list...

%HdAudioFunctionDriver.ADICodec.DeviceDesc% = HdPiaget15156Discrete, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_194A&subsys_103C7014
%HdAudioFunctionDriver.ADICodec.DeviceDesc% = HdVulcainUMA, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_194A&subsys_103C308A
%HdAudioFunctionDriver.ADICodec.DeviceDesc% = HdVulcainDiscrete, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_194A&subsys_103C308B
%HdAudioFunctionDriver.ADICodec.DeviceDesc% = HdVolnaUMA, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_194A&subsys_103C308C
%HdAudioFunctionDriver.ADICodec.DeviceDesc% = HdVolnaDiscrete, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_194A&subsys_103C308D
%HdAudioFunctionDriver.ADICodec.DeviceDesc% = HdNeutron, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_194A&subsys_103C3655

If that doesn't work I recommend you go back, install W10 32 bit, because I cannot find a 64 bit driver for that ID.

Unfortunately, after install there's no x64 driver, just 32-bit.  Thanks for your help though.

One last stupid question:  The sound always worked fine in 64-bit Windows 7.  Instead of doing a Win 10 32-bit install would there be any use in installing Windows 7 64-bit, then trying to upgrade to Windows 10 64-bit?  Or does the fact that the all these drivers aren't working with Windows 10 now mean whatever works in 7 will be broken in the upgrade?

You're very welcome.

Doing an extensive search and checking 32 and 64 bit drivers, I could only find XP 32 bit drivers for that ID.

You could try installing W7 64 bit and clicking on the blue Update Now button at the link below and see if the audio carries over to W10 64 bit.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

I have a HP 6930p notebook with the same audio system (which was the first driver I gave you, and that was before you let me know what the hardware ID was).  The driver I gave you does not have support for the hardware ID you posted.

When I upgraded my HP 6930p notebook from W7 64 bit to W10 64 bit, the audio worked just fine without me having to install any other drivers.  it still works fine on version 21H1.

But the audio device my notebook has, has a slightly different ID not ending in 3655.
