HP Spectre x360 - 15t-bl000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The speakers on my Spectre x360 started fading in and out while listening to music. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers and updated the BIOS, which was recommended from other support threads but the issue still persists. I read something about a clearR0.exe file provided by HP fixed it for some people because it's a calibration issue with the speakers, but the download link is broken for it. Any advice on what to do next?

So, it turns out that it was a hardware issue. Some of the metal pieces in the headphone jack were sticking, thus causing the computer to think that the sound signal should be sent there instead of the speakers. I've freed the stuck pieces and lubricated them to prevent further sticking and my music hasn't faded in and out since.

I have the same issue (also Spectre x360), just started 2 days ago while watching videos - I first thought my internet connection was slow, and that was why the sound was cutting out/crackling - but then I lost sound completely. Probably like you, I tried EVERYTHING I could find on the topic - even reset my computer (only slightly over a year old) 3 different times - and still have the issue. Most times, no sound at all, but sometimes I get sporadic/in-and-out sound, then it goes away again most times. Headphones seem to work fine, which makes me believe it may not be a hardware issue? Although a guy from Best Buy said if resetting the computer didn't remedy the issue, it may well be hardware? Anyway, it's VERY frustrating, so if you find a solution, can you post it here, and I'll do the same. Not glad you have the issue, but grateful I'm not alone in trying to find a resolution ASAP.

@Eternal_NIB Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are facing B&O Speakers fade in and out the issue.

Try the following.

Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78501-79000/sp78561.exe

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78501-79000/sp78555.exe

When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

Hi @praveen196, I uninstalled the audio driver, reinstalled the one from the link you posted, and reinstalled the chipset driver you posted but the speakers still fade in and out and from left to right randomly.

@Eternal_NIB

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggest you perform the system reset.

Have a nice day!!
