HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-es0000 IDS Base Model

When an external (USB) camera is connected, my HP Envy x360 laptop stops detecting the built-in audio output (RealTek speakers) and input devices. Error: "No Devices Found"

I have used the same camera for several years without issue - this started in the last week or so. I'm not sure if it started before or after a recent update. I attempted connecting a different camera and using other USB ports with the same result. As soon as I plug it in, my laptop stops seeing all audio devices. When I disconnect, they come back. Everything works fine when I connect a camera to my Microsoft Surface.

Here is what I have already tried:

  1. Drivers are up-to-date
  2. Troubleshooter: automated diagnostics to try solving your audio problem
    1. Reset audio devices; reset audio device services
    2. Disable audio enhancements
  3. Audio check
    1. "no speakers found" (hardware problem detected)
    2. "no microphones found (hardware problem detected)
  4. HP virtual agent
    1. Push button reset
    2. BIOS setup > exit > load setup defaults > save changes and exit
    3. Run audio test from HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)
    4. Update BIOS (no update available)
    5. System Reset PC

Product details:

I'm at a total loss. I work 100% remotely, and this issue is extremely disruptive.
