Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

The wired external microphone keeps getting recognised as headphones (output) only. In the control panel the mic is showing as not plugged in but it is recognised as headphones . The microphone accessibility is on. How should I solve this issue?

Where do you plug the microphone in ? Can you use microphone from a headset ? The plug may not compatible with your microphone (wrong place). Please try something like the following adapter to split the combo port.

I plugged the microphone in the audio jack. Yes, the microphone of the headset works. Only the wired external microphone doesn’t work and I didn’t use a splitter plug, the external microphone’s plug is 3.5 mm same as the laptop.
