Well, since originally starting this thread I've been dilligently checking the firmware page to see if/when HP would post new firmware that I hope would fix this.

I check a couple of weeks ago - no new firmware.

Checked today (14th April), and new firmware to download!

However:

- This doesn't fix the problem.  The DSP firmware is the same as the previous package. *sigh*

- The firmware is dated the 10th Jan.  HP - you're kidding, right?  It's taken 3 months since this firmware was released to actually post it on your website?

I've said this several times - it would be nice for somebody from HP to at let us know if the Dock team actually know about this problem, and if they're actually working on a fix.

@Thorkel

Firmware was availbale on other site earlier.

I had the same issue I've spent over 8 hours to reolsve this issue playing with different versions of drivers.

I have all drivers updated on my HP EliteBook 1050 G1. Some of the drivers are newer, because I updated them using Intel Driver & Support Assitant. There were other drivers for elite dock station and universal station installed. I got the same error for the Audio Top DSP as you.

I decided to update dock firmware from another non HP computer (msi gs63vr 6rf).

I've started my test from firmware installer sp93495.exe but It failed (I had very old thundbolt driver, but I was able to update firmware for all compontents except Thunderbolt controller).

Then I've installed related audio and network drivers (sp87614.exe and sp84851.exe), reboot computer and then I gave 2nd chance to dock g2 firmware installer and it pass.

If you would like to verify driver version of components please let me know

There is a new update available:

SP95855 dated 24. April

This Update worked fine for me after all the problems of SP93495. Two audio modules now have the new firmware and work.

Perhaps you need to install the new audio drivers before: SP91938

(Tested on a HP Elite x2 1013 G3 with all HP updates installed and Windows 10 1809).

Ok, thanks for the heads up @Christiankr - I checked last week and this 24th April update wasn’t there then !

Ok, first the good news:

- This does fix the Audio issue for me.  The firmware now applies from MacBook Pro.

- This also appears to fix an issue with my MacBook Pro where 4K 60Hz didn’t work on the recent firmwares (but 4K 50Hz did - go figure).

The not so good news:

- This firmware *still* doesn’t apply cleanly from my Thunderbolt 3 MacBook Pro.  The Audio bits apply cleanly, but it includes 7 newer firmware versions than were installed on the dock.  The USB-PD firmware updates don’t apply for me - as soon as they start applying the dock goes into an unresponsive state.  Eventually the updater times out, but I need to pull the power on the dock to get it back to normal.  Fortunately this doesn’t misapply the firmware unlike the audio problem that started this thread (after pulling the power the old firmware is still present) - but it’s still irritating that this firmware pack doesn’t apply properly.  I’ll need to try another laptop, but at the moment my USB-PD upstream and downstream, and thunderbolt firmware, are still out of date.

And that’s before I get onto the other two problems I have with this dock (although, I’m not sure if these are Apple problems or HP problems):

- My USB-C iPad Pro won’t display on my monitor through the dock (although it displays fine if I connect the monitor directly to the dock).  Keyboard works, Ethernet doesn’t.

- My wife’s old MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 2 won’t register with the dock - we have the Thunderbolt 3 to 2 cable, but when I plug it in the dock flashes briefly then goes quiet.  The Thunderbolt 3 to 2 cable is fine with other devices.

I’m glad that a firmware update was eventually posted, but 0 out of 10 for promptness and communication HP.  I had hoped this USB-C/Thunderbolt dock would be the one dock to rule them all, but this is not proving as straightforward as I hoped.
