Envy 17"
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Windows has just installed the latest updates and now the volume on my speakers has reduced considerably. The volume is up full on the tool bar, full on the videos I am watching and I have gone into properties and tried boost etc, but everything is still so quiet. Any advice please? It's driving me crazy!

Hi:

If your notebook has the IDT HD Beats audio, then normally reinstalling the W10 IDT audio driver and restarting the PC resolves the problem.

This package contains the driver that enables the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

You're very welcome.

Solved the problem on my laptop.  I can now hear sounds without plugging into the headphone jack.

I'd like think this servicepack would fix my problem too since I have the identical same problem and the speaker system mentioned, however I just spent over an hor downloading a 43.9MB file only to have it get to 37.9MB and then tell me the download was incomplete and failed. Very poor HP!

Ok, second attempt was marginally faster (still took 20 minutes for a 43.9MB file) and fixed my problem.

FYI for others: One small glitch I encountered after reinstalling this service pack, I had no sound at all.  When I went into the Control Panel, Sound, I found that the sound had defaulted to "Communication Headphones" instead of  "Speakers/HP".   Changing the default setting to the computer speakers  restored the sound to the speakers and at levels I haven't heard in well over a year.  Thanks to all for this very helpful info!

When I installed this, now there is no sound at all. Please help

Thank you I should have looked here sooner!  Great to have my sound back.  I knew to check on speaker on the bar and switch back to speakers.
