1. Please write your notebook product number (p/n).
2. Go to:
Control Panel -> Devices Manager -> Audio, Video and Games Controllers
and find there IDT audio card. Click on it with right button of your mouse and choose ' Properties '.
Select ' Driver ' tab and post here which driver version you see there.

I also have a similar audio problem. My HP Envy 2070nr is only one week old and I get no audio output through the main speakers only through my headphones. I updated the audio drivers which didn't solve the problem.
Product Number: LV046UA#ABA
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC - 6.10.6328.0
ATI High Definition Audio Device - 22.214.171.12406
Intel(R) Display Audio - 126.96.36.19974
Bluetooth Hands-free Audio - 188.8.131.5250

If I were you then I would return this model to the shop and ask them to exchange it for another of the same model, other Envy model or refund if they do not have any of this choices.

I understand your sound is not working on your HP Envy. If you follow this link it will provide you with the drivers.
You could also use this document for sound issues.
Hope this helps.
