HP Laptop 14-bw0xx not recognizing external speaker

I just purchased hp s3100 speakers and I can't get them to work. When I look at sound in control panel the eternal speakers do not come up in the list of devices (yes the power is on). Help please?

Hi,

You plugged the USB in to USB port and the 3.5mm jack into the Headphone port?

If you plug headphones into the PC, do they work?

If should be speaker/headphone device.

Another couple of questions.

When you plug in the speakers, do the laptop speakers stop working. (the same as when you plug in headphones.

Can you plug the speakers into another device, the 3.5mm jack, and see if you hear sound. (the volume is turned up)

The power led does come on on the speakers when you plug in USB?

Thanks to your questions I can say that the speakers do work when I stream a radio station, but don't work when I stream Netflix.

Netflix sound comes though the internal speakers but not the external speakers.
