some time ago my sound disappeared. It may have been after a W10 update but I did not notice right away.

Hi,

Can you provide the exact model number of your notebook.

model

Have you tried uninstalling the audio device in device manager and then reboot and let Windows reinstall the audio device,

Have you tried checking on the driver support page for your product to see if there any new drivers or reinstall the "older ones"
