My HP Pavilion x360 Convertible is stuck on mute in both laptop and tablet mode. The red light on the mute button remains on, and the volume bar on the top left stays on screen no matter what I'm doing; the physical buttons on my keyboard don't work, either. If I try to click and drag the volume up in the taskbar, it immediately reverts back to 0/mute. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall my Realtek High Definition Audio driver (version 6.0.1.8673), but this did not help. The problem began after the last major update on 10/16/2020. Is there anything else I can try?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Install HP system event utility from the driver page - https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
Run the HP audio diagnostics from the HP Support Assistant.- https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html
Let me know if this helps.

Thanks!
Have a great day!

Hi Betty. I've already attempted this, per my original message. Downloading the new driver doesn't work. Further, HP Support Assistant tells me nothing is wrong and that the drivers are fine. Mute continues to get stuck; it cycles off and on, preventing me from accomplishing any of my work on this machine, which is barely over a year old.
