Headphone jack stopped working after Windows 10 anniversary update

HP 455 ProBook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since the Windows 10 anniversary update my headphone jack no longer works. It worked fine until then. Now, when I plug headphones in the system recognises the fact and a message pops up saying  'you have just plugged a device into the audio jack', but no sound comes through them. If I unplug them, the message is displayed that I have unplugged them.

I have tried 3 different sets of earphones, so they are not the problem.

Anyone else had this issue and come up with a solution?

Hi @TK5902,

Welcome to HP Support Forums :), I'm here to help.

You can fix the Windows 10 Anniversary Update no sound issue by downloading and updating audio drivers.

Visit the link below to download the latest drivers for your PC:

http://hp.care/2bjHn5I

Before you start new audio driver installation, you have to uninstall the existing driver, Please follow the steps below to remove the existing audio drivers:

1.) In Windows, search for and open "Device Manager".

2.) Double-click "Sound, video and game controllers".

3.) right-click the sound device and select "Uninstall"

Once the old sound driver has been removed, you can start the new driver installation.

Refer the link below for further assistance:

Let me know how it goes.
