Has anyone added Bluetooth to their older laptops? Any suggestions?

Hi:

 

There are two ways you can go...

 

The easy way...purchase an external USB Bluetooth adapter.

 

The hard way (if you can even find the parts)...install the HP factory Bluetooth module and cable for the dv7-4000 model series.

 

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

You need two parts:

 

The Bluetooth cable and the Bluetooth module.

 

Bluetooth module cable    HP part # 605323-001

 

For use only with HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC 40xx computer models   HP part # 537921-001

 

Reference chapter 3, pages 24-25, items 12 and 15.

 

Chapter 4 has the BT installation procedure --pages 87-88.
