@Diane_W,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that there is noise from the computer when the charger is connected.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

  • What is the exact model for your computer?
  • Is the noise coming from the system fan?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

The model # is 3160NGW ... the noise is not coming from the fan.  I did the update for the Bios and the noise is still there.  It is not continuous... comes and goes.  It is the loudest (sounds like its going to explode) when waking up or on start up but will stop if I unplug it.  It makes noise time to time while plugged in after it wakes up too.

@Diane_W,

I recommend you run a system test on the computer (Including the AC adapter) and let me know the result.

Follow the steps in the below article to run the test.

I’ve downloaded the system test and did both Systems fast test and the FULL EXTENSIVE testing and everything has passed but there is still the issue.  Please advise what the next course of action I should take.  Thanks!!!
