HP 15-dw0038wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP15-dw0038wm that I bought to mostly attend virtual meetings such as in Zoom.  However, some of my meetings are going when the laptop battery gets low.  When I plug in the ac adapter plug, it causes my sound both incoming and outgoing to be garbled and choppy.  If I unplug the computer it straightens up and is normal.   I have already placed a ferric filter on the power cord near the computer plug, but that has not helped.

Any ideas or recommendations?

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Welcome to the HP support community.

 

Unplug the charge, Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager:

1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.

2) Expand “Batteries”.

3) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

4) Click on “Uninstall”.

5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver

6) Shutdown the computer.

7) Remove the battery for a minute and then put it back in. (Skip this step if you have a non removable battery)

8 - When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.

9) Go to Device Manager.

10) Expand Batteries.

11) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"

Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

I tried to perform the steps you outlined in your post, however when I expand “batteries” in the device manager, I don’t have a line with “MICROSOFT ACPI-COMPLIANT-COMPLIANT EMBEDDED CONTROLLER”.

Is that located under another device?

Also the battery does not remove easily, but you seem to indicate the fix may work if a battery is not removable. Should this work without removing the battery?

Thank you Sandytechy20!  That fixed my problem.  I found the both drivers you mentioned and followed your updates on getting drivers and it the distortion and garbling during my Zoom meetings with my ac adapter plugged in stopped.
