HP Pavilion - 15-au624tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Line-in microphone (3.5 mm jack) gives  poor quality voice recording with very low volume [ maximum 4%] and disturbance. Consequently I cannot use it for dictation. Mic is Emkay headset (mono) approved for Dragon voice recognition software. Laptop's built-in microphone functions well.

In the Realtek High Definition audio driver properties, the following message is given in the events log :

Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0295&SUBSYS_103C8216&REV_1000\4&34719e6e&0&0001 requires further installation.

The audio driver details are as  under:

driver provider: Realtek Semiconductor

driver date : 20.12.16

driver ver: 6.0.1.8023

Please guide. Thanks.

HP does not supply newer drivers for the series of your machine.

                        https://support.hp.com/au-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-15-au600-notebook-pc/14039870

Please perform a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

   (a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,
                          https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp80501-81000/sp80538.exe

   (b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
   (c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
   (d) Reboot again.

Regards.
