HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 (70Q99AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

After playing with multiple microphones and our sound board-mixer, I finally realized why I can record voices but not music (church band). In Audio Settings, the microphone input settings had Audio Enhancements enabled, and for some reason, I could record Voice audio, but never music audio (live musicians, organ, piano, or pre-recorded music) When Audio Enhancements is disabled, I am able to record both voices and music, but the levels are now low. has anyone seen this issue and been able to fix it?

Hi @MFLATH

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

To record music with your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 running Microsoft Windows 11, you should disable the microphone Audio Enhancements.

Here is a step-by-step guide to ensure you can record music effectively:

Steps to Disable Audio Enhancements

Open Settings: Click on the Start menu and select "Settings" or press Windows + I.

Navigate to System: In the Settings window, go to System.

Click on Sound: Select the "Sound" option from the left sidebar.

Choose Your Microphone: Under "Input," find your microphone device and click on it to access its properties.

Open Additional Device Properties: Click on “Device properties” or “Additional device properties” link.

Disable Audio Enhancements:

  • In the Microphone Properties window, go to the "Enhancements" tab.
  • Uncheck the box labeled "Enable audio enhancements."

Apply Changes: Click “Apply” and then “OK” to save your changes.

By disabling Audio Enhancements, you should be able to record music more effectively. This setting is primarily designed for voice optimization, and disabling it ensures that the audio input settings do not interfere with the quality of music recordings.
