Microsoft Windows 11

hello,

My microphone doesn't work. I can not use it during Zoom or even WhatsApp. if I touch the icon microphone, I can open it or close it, but nobody can hear my voice.

Yesterday, one of your support team members attempted to assist me, but the issue persists.

Hi @SIRAB,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your OmniBook Ultra Flip 14-fh0000 microphone isn’t working in Zoom or WhatsApp, even though the mic icon shows it turning on/off. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check if the microphone is muted with the keyboard key
Many OmniBook models have a dedicated microphone mute key (F8 or F10 depending on layout).
Press it once and check if the LED on that key or on the laptop turns orange (muted) or white/off (unmuted).

Verify Windows sees your microphone input
Go to Settings → System → Sound → Input.
Speak into the mic and look at the Input Volume bar.
If the bar doesn’t move, Windows isn’t receiving audio.

Make sure the correct microphone is selected
In the same Sound → Input section, select Internal Microphone Array.
If Zoom or WhatsApp selected a different mic (like a headset), it won’t pick up sound.

Turn off exclusive control
Sound Settings → More sound settings → Recording tab → Internal Microphone → Properties → Advanced.
Uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control.”
This prevents Zoom from muting the mic unintentionally.

Check microphone privacy permissions
Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Turn on “Microphone access” and also “Let apps access your microphone.”
Scroll down and ensure Zoom and WhatsApp Desktop both have permission enabled.

Update the Realtek/HP microphone driver
Device Manager → Audio inputs and outputs → Internal Microphone Array.
Right-click → Update driver → Browse my computer → Let me pick → choose the available Realtek or HP driver.
Sometimes Windows switches to a generic driver that breaks the mic.

I hope this helps.
