Brand-new Compute. With Intel Smart sound technology for USB audio. When I look at the properties, it tells me that my microphone is connected to the front port (analog) when, in fact it is connected to a USB port. How do I get it to recognize that port? My microphone is sending a very weak signal to my dictation program and I think this might be the problem.

Any help will be appreciated Jim Birke

Hi,

Do you have a headphone with a mic plugged in at the same time?

If you go into audio settings (right click on the small speaker in lower right of desktop and click on audio settings. What do you see as input. Can you change the option in the curtain menu?

Did you install drivers for your USB Microfone?

Let me know,

David
