Microphone voice of headset drops intermittently

Product: HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 Notebook
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When using a headset in the audio jack on top right, people on skype and teams complain that my voice keeps breaking up and/or sounding metalic and cracking. When using the built in microphone that problem does not exist. I tried multiple headsets and they all give the same result.
