HP Elitebook 8440p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

My laptop in question is a HP Elitebook 8440p

Just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro x64, and I've managed to find drivers for all but one device.

Under >

> Sound, video and game controllers

  - "High Definition Audio Device"

It has a Hardware ID of:

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2804&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000

I've already tried installing:

- IDT Audio Drivers

- LSI High-Definition Audio (HDA) Modem

- Intel Chipset Installation Utility

None of the above has gotten rid of the yellow exclamation mark off the device under the device manager view.

I had a few other devices where Win 10 didn't install by default, and for those Win 7 drivers seems to work fine, so I'm assuming the same will be true with the one above - I just need to know what to install...

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi:

You need to manually install the Intel HDMI audio driver from the W7 Intel HD graphics driver from your notebook's support page.

Here's how to do that without messing up your graphics driver...

First download and install this free file utility...1st file on the list is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

Next, download and save the Intel graphics driver from your notebook's support page.  Do not run it.

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=4095873&swItemId=ob_127914_1&swEnvOid=405...

After you download the above driver file, right click on it and select 7-zip from the list.

Have 7-zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp64360).

Once that is done, go to the device manager and click on the HD audio device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder 7-zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Then reboot.
