Mute button stays white on Win 10 SOLUTION

HP Recommended
HP Elitebook 840 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

If you have problem with change color of dedicated mute button in Windows 10 x64 just install chipset driver (sp87257).

System will ask you to change driver to older version, choose "yes", install it and it should work again (turn orange if muted or stays white when it's not).

If it will not work for you, additional steps before installing chipset driver that i've done was:

  • remove keyboard (and and check also it's driver) in device manager and restart computer,
  • remove sound, video and game controllers (and check also it's driver) and restart computer.

Intel Chipset Installation Utility:

Hope it helps for you!

Best regards,

Rafal W.
