HP Stream 14-cb011ds
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product Name:  HP Stream 14-cb011ds

Product Number:  5LA45UA

My problems started with no audio device-speakers not working after attempting to perform windows update. I have tried everything I have found here in the community forums and through a virtual agent. I have performed an audio component test which passed but have not been able to retrieve audio and the speakers appear to have been removed. Through troubleshooting multiple issues and running diagnostics I have done a hard reset, reset BIOS, uninstalled drivers and updated through Windows as far as it would let me. I have so many error codes and unknown devices from attempting so many different fixes. I have attempted to update drivers through Realtek, Intel & Microsoft. One error that I have received several times is "Database Registry May be Corrupt".

I have been working on this issue for several hours a day for going on three days now and I'm about to go insane. This is the  laptop my daughter uses for school and sound is necessary for her virtual learning. Please help meeeee!

I'm not  sure if this information would be helpful or not: In my device manager I have the following:

Audio Inputs and Outputs

    >Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)

    >Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio)

Other Devices

! >Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus

! >Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus

     >Unknown Device   (several unknown devices)

and I do not have the "Sound, Video, Game Controllers" option in device manager.

I have attempted to update anything related to sound including any audio drivers and have also uninstalled drivers and let Windows reinstall at startup but nothing has changed. I have also tried to perform multiple windows updates and can't get passed Windows 10 Version 1903. I have also tried to download the original drivers from the Realtek manufacturers website. I currently have several downloaded drivers in folders that I have recently installed through troubleshooting but unsure what I'm supposed to do with them.  There are no instructions available once the download installs.

Thank you in advance for any assistance or advice with resolving this issue!

I also have this same issue on my Pavilion 14-ce0108nd, but not always. It randomly starts to have this problem and when i try to shut it down, it never really turns off, keeping a black screen and the on/off switch lighted up but there is nothing else I can do. The only thing that works is to shut it down hard by holding the power swith. Then when I start it up again the issue if resolved or in other cases the issue wasn't there before shutting down but when I turn it back on the issue reappears. Do you see this happening too?
