Hi @Klara291981, Welcome to HP Support Community. 👋

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your laptop's audio. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue:

Check Audio Services:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Look for Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services.
  • Ensure both are running and set to Automatic. If not, right-click and select Start or Restart.

Run the Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Find Playing Audio and click Run the troubleshooter.

Check Device Manager:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  • If you see any yellow exclamation marks, right-click the device and select Update driver.
  • If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling the device and then restarting your laptop to reinstall the drivers automatically.

Set Default Playback Device:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
  • Go to the Playback tab, right-click your audio device, and select Set as Default Device.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Del during startup).
  • Ensure the onboard audio is enabled.

Power Cycle Your Laptop:

  • Shut down your laptop completely.
  • Unplug it and remove the battery (if possible).
  • Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day. 🙂
