No Bluetooth entries in Device Manager

dv7-1170us prod. e1p14av
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried using bluetooth wireless headset for the first time. I could not find where to pair. No Bluetooth entry in the Action Center and could not find when scanned. When I checked Device Manager, here were no entries for bluetooth. I have used HP support Assistant and Windows Troubleshooter - neither found anything. THis PC was upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 when it came out. All updates are current, all drivers are current. I have tried all the posted solutions I could find.

As an aside, I have a second HP Pavillion dv7with the same problem.

Looking at your manual you have a separate Bluetooth module.

Look at page 74.

Hi, @fg19951

You have posted conflicting product information...

a dv7-1170us came with Vista originally.  A dv7-1170us has a product number of FS126UA.

According to the product specs page below, the dv7-1170us notebook does not come with built in bluetooth networking.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01550098

If it did, that feature would have been listed along with the 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN wireless connectivity specification.

The parts list also confirms the absence of a separate blutooth radio in that model, which it would have had if it did have bluetooth.

The product number you posted (E1P14AV) decodes to a HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 17T-J100 QUAD EDITION CTO NOTEBOOK PC (ENERGY STAR).

And as @REO51ST requested, we would need to know the model of the wireless network adapter to see if we can be of further assistance.

There is a very good chance your notebook did not come with built in bluetooth networking, but since it is a CTO model, we cannot get any specific info on those builds.

The model wireless network adapter in a 17t-j100 would determine if it has onboard bluetooth or not.
