HP ENVY x360 - 15m-dr1012dx
Microsoft Windows 11
Over the past few weeks, the sound output from my laptop is dead. My laptop is running on Windows 11

I tried all steps from HP Support Assistant's virtual chat including BIOS reset, BIOS upgrade, audio driver updates but the problem persists. I checked messages at HP support center, only to find that a lot of people are facing the same problem and HP does not have a solution. Furthermore, HP does not even provide Windows 11 drivers for my make and model.

Hi@GAnupam,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP ENVY x360 Notebook sound is not working correctly.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Check with any headphones if it works fine.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Try doing System Restore if it had worked few days ago.
  • You can do Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please read the original message again. I have already updated BIOS and HP Support Assistant. Why should I reset PC or do a system restore for a simple problem with audio drivers?

Why can't HP give me the right audio driver file for my system?

The drivers page does not show Windows 11 as dropdown for my product. I don't understand why it was enabled for upgrade. Now tell me how do I get 'latest' drivers. Is HP Envy X360 even compatible with Windows 11?

Hi. I believe you are not understanding the issue. Please read this thread from beginning. All I need is a compatible audio driver for my laptop. HP's page on drivers does not provide 'windows 11' as dropdown itself. So, please give me the right audio driver. As of now, even wired headphones are not working.

Thanks for your response.

Please note that drivers compatible with Windows 11 are not yet come out. Once the drivers are released for Windows 11, they will appear on the HP website.

Thanks!
