HP Envy 15 as-168-nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use a HP envy 15 notebook and the sound is not working. I have possibly done almost everything from running the troubleshooter to reinstalling the windows. An external USB Soundcard works fine, and a friend said it could be the internal soundcard that is faulty. The closest I have come to seeing the red X disappear from the sound icon was reinstalling windows 10 and 8. 

 

I have installed the recommended sound drivers from the HP driver website, still nothing.

 

The sound icon was not showing the red X during the first 10 seconds after reinstalling windows 10 Pro and 2 seconds after installing windows 8. I am tired and would love to get this issue fixed.

No newer driver for your machine. Please try newer Conexant High Definition Audio Driver for DT (Windows 10):

 

            https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp106001-106500/sp106154.exe

Just tried your solution. It said "Driver Installation Failed: could not find device ...."
