HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx

The speakers for my HP Spectre x360 laptop aren't working. Using headphones is fine. I've already restarted the computer multiple times. Also, I have already tried using the "Find and fix audio playback problems" but no problems were found. I have  uninstalled and reinstalled the speakers driver (Realtek High Definition Audio) and I have also updated the BIOS and chipset drivers for my laptop but nothing has worked.

I would suggest you could try to run the test on the audio from F2 (Please remember to capture the failure ID for further assistance).

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  • Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.

  • The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu is displayed.

  • Select Component tests.

List of the Component tests

  • Please initiate a test on the Audio - The Audio Playback Test checks your system to make sure the audio device is functioning properly. During the test, a few music notes are played in sequence and then repeated. This test takes 1 minute to complete. Click Audio, then click Run once. Choose either the speakers or headphones. When asked, enter the number of notes you heard.

If the test fails, this could be a possible hardware failure.

@TEJ1602, thanks for your suggestion. I performed the audio test and it was successful, however, when I try to use the speakers when I log onto my computer, they still do not work.

Before we confirm it be a hardware issue, let us try to perform a system reset. 

You may refer to the steps suggested in this document HP PCs - Resetting Your Computer (Windows 10)
