HP ENVY LAPTOP 13-ba1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I do not have any audio output from the left channel of the headphone socket, but audio plays from both the left and right channels of the speakers, and audio also plays on both channels when using a USB audio interface. This is very inconvenient as I would like to listen to music on headphones. The balance control is set to 50:50 and if I pan the signal completely to the left there is only the tiniest amount of bleed-through; whereas panning completely to the right the signal is at full volume.

I have tried adjusting the pan controls with the headphones in, and also adjusting the volume with the headphones in, to no avail. Is this likely to be a hardware issue?

What is your HP ENVY LAPTOP 13-ba1xxx  ?  Please perform a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

   (a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,
           https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp112001-112500/sp112102.exe

   (b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
   (c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
   (d) Reboot again.

Regards.

No, sadly that hasn't cured it. The clean install has left it in exactly the same condition.
