Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have successfully paired my Sony earphones WF-1000XM3 to my Envy x360 laptop (ie they are showing as paired under "Other Devices" in my Settings).  However, when I go to my Sound settings, the only output device showing is the Realtek in-built speaker.  How do I get sound to play through my earphones?  Do I need to add them as an output device and if so, how do I do that?

(I have previously connected the earphones to an iPhone but have disabled Bluetooth on my iPhone so that should not interfere.)

Suggestions/advice welcome, thanks!

Replying to my own message as I seem to have solved the problem myself!

There is a default device listing "LE WF-1000XM3" in Sound settings which suggests that the earphones have been paired.  This is misleading and should be ignored.  You have to re-pair the device  to "WF-1000XM3" and NOT to "LE WF-1000XM3".  The Sony support pages make a very limited mention of this as well.
