HP ENVY x360 15-ee0002na Convertible Laptop 2020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a obnoxious buzzing noise coming from the speakers. It has started twice now whilst my daughter was in the middle of her Google Classroom meeting and during a zoom meeting. The only way to stop the loud and obnoxious noise is to turn the computer off and on again. I suspect it's a hardware fault.

As the laptop is still within manufacturer warranty should I go through the HP (UK) support process and get a replacement laptop. Do I ring 0207 660 3859 on Monday when your support desk is open?

@MarkCWillis Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the buzzing noise coming from Bang & Olufsen Speakers.

To confirm whether it's the speaker or the audio card, plug-in Headphones and see if the same issue appears there. If it doesn't then it indicates that there is an issue with the Speaker Hardware.

I would Suggest you Contact HP for a hardware service, although, if the sound appears on the headphone as well, follow the below steps:

Update drivers through Device Manager, instead of manually, if you haven't tried it before:

a) Open the run command by pressing Windows key + R and type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes) and hit Enter.

b) Spot and expand the “Sound, video and game controllers”.

c) Right click on the High Definition Audio Device driver and select “Disable”. When it prompts to choose an option, click OK. Close the Window, come back and try to re-enable it. Now check if the issue still appears.

d). If it does, then right click on the High Definition Audio Device driver and select “Update Driver Software”. When it prompts to choose an option How do you want to search driver, then go with Search automatically for updated driver software

If you have a driver available on your PC, then select Browse my computer for driver software, then select the appropriate location, where the driver located on your PC for updating it.

(Ensure that PC is connected to the Internet while performing this step)

e). Once this is done, restart the computer to check the problem fixed. If it doesn't fix the issue, then Right click on the same driver and select “Uninstall” then restart the system and let the system install the driver automatically on Start. Check and see if it resolve the issue. (Recommended step).

Thanks for getting back to me. I rang HP Technical  Support on 0207 660 3859 for UK and they are going to send a courier out to collect my laptop and fix it as it's still in warranty and appears to be an intermittent hardware fault.

Hi - I have the same problem and the support people keep trying to sell me on premium support experience... What did you say to get them to admit it was a hardware problem? What IS the hardware problem?

Hi @RoseWilde76

In the Windows 10 search enter "HP Support Assistant" -> HP Support Assistant. This gives you your product number and serial number. Then you can check if you are still within the 1 year's manufacture warranty. After I phoned HP support they asked me to send a video with the noise. I took a short video using my mobile phone. It should only be for a few seconds otherwise the the file will be too large. Then email the proof to HP. If you don't have warranty then you have a problem because you'll need to pay for extra warranty or get a local specialist computer dealer to fix your laptop.
