I have the same issue too, my laptop is about a month old now and is the 15" Envy x360 version running i7.

It doesn't happen when pausing/skipping audio but the crackling happens extremely frequently when I'm typing and playing music or anything else through the laptop's default speakers at the same time, and is very frustrating.

I've tried turning off the Bang & Olufsen equalizer, turning off the mic option at the same time I'm playing anything through my speakers but these don't help.

Really don't want to have to resort to returning the laptop due to this issue.

What is the product number of your computer?

Have you installed the latest audio driver available for your computer?

What is the version of Windows you are using?

Meanwhile, I recommend you perform a recovery on the computer following the steps in the below artilce.
