Hi guys,

I am having the exact problem Smiley Sad

Did anyone get the solution for this issue?

This issues appeared when I upgraded my HP ProBook 450 from win 8.1 pro to Win 10 pro.

I didn't find any solution so I tried to reset my win 10 pro with removing all the application and reinstalling the windows (without touching the data ) but immediately when I finished the installation and while trying to enter the password, the shift key was pressed and I found myself typing capital letters and difficulty I entered my password.

And again every 5 mins or when I try to type anything,  ZXC\TY,. appears and the volume mutes.

It is a really disturbing issue. There is NO suggestion/solution from anybody HP or Microsoft.

At least we need to know if it is because of our HP or it is something in the data or from Microsoft  ??

HP please help.

Regards,

Anas

Hi @AnasObeidat,

Would request you to scan the unit for Virus with good antivirus.

Try to check the same in Safe mode. That would help to isolate the issue.

Have you looked at a very-similar posting:

Some "multimedia" keyboards have a series of buttons: Rewind / Stop / Pause / Play / Mute

that imitate the controls on an "old-school" cassette-tape player.

It mentions the symptoms of the user accidentally activating the Windows Accessibility tool "Sticky Keys".

For example, instead of pressing CTRL-ALT-DELETE all the same time, when "Sticky Keys' is activated, the user can press CTRL and then ALT and then DELETE.

Another symptom of "Sticky Keys" is when you use the mouse, and it highlights a large block of text.

To activate "Sticky Keys", press the SHIFT key five times in a row.  Is that something that you might be doing, while using the keyboard? Even "accidentally" ?

See:  https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/support/how-to/keyboard/macros

Did you create a "keyboard macro" -- press one key to run a "macro" which types that 'XVC...' sequence?

Hi @

Guys, I have formatted my machine, I deleted all the data and repartition the drivers and installed WIN 10 pro 64 bit and When I finished, the issue started again !?!!!

Do you think any of the above suggestion will help in this case ???

From: http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2013/SpringSMBNews/HPProBook450G0_datasheet.pdf

Full—sized, spill—resistant keyboard, touchpad with scroll zone and gestures support, power button,
2 launch buttons (Wireless on/off and speaker mute), Function Keys , full separate numeric keypad

I do not see any mention of having a "multi-media" record, with separate buttons (rewind, stop, play/pause, fast forward).

But, does your keyboard have any such labels (or icons, such as '<< || >>') near any keyboard keys?

Does your keyboard have a 'FN' key at bottom-left?

Holding down such a key works like the "shift" key -- activates "alternate" interpretation of the next key you press.

Example, touch "2" to get "2", hold SHIFT and touch "2" to get "@".

Similarly, holding FN and touching a key gives an "alternate" interpretation.

The problem is common-enough that a suggestion to replace the keyboard will NOT be useful.

have the exact same issue. I wish someone gave us a worthwhile response. Reinstalling windows hasnt helped. Updating drivers hasnt helped. External keyboard though works but the onboard doesnt work. I dont want to go spend on replacing the keyboard only to find it wasnt the issue.

I know this post is old, but as it happened to me, there may be someone else looking for this solution, this is how I solved it today 05-02-2019. no more zxc}ty,.}

As said in this post: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/My-laptop-goes-haywire-when-the-sound-is-unmuted/m-p/51...  You need to disconnect the ribbon cable for the mute / airplane mode buttons.

Disconnect this cableDisconnect this cable

it worked for me, try it
